What is hyperbaric oxygenation ?

The hyperbaric oxygenation is a proven therapeutic method of breathing pure oxygen under pressure, known well in Western Europe and the USA.

The atmospheric air we breathe is a mix of gases, in which oxygen is 21%.

An adult consumes 2700 grams of oxygen per day, of what only 900 grams are going for the needs of circulatory system. In a hyperbaric chamber on a mode of double atmospheric pressure at normal breathing, there are twice more molecules of oxygen inhaled. The use of pure oxygen in hyperbaric chamber leads to receiving to ten more times of it – about 1100 grams of oxygen.

The erythrocytes are filling with oxygen, and surplus is dissolving in the blood plasma – few minutes later the levels of oxygen in the body increase much above usual value, even in the damaged hypoxic tissues, which greatly contributes to the healing process.

The other effects of the hyperbaric therapy, which ones are science-proved and widely used, are:

- reduce inflammations;

- faster regeneration of blood vessels

- improves body ability against viruses and infections

- supports the body to secrete toxic and metabolic waste products.

- accelerates recovery-time.

The combination of higher pressure and an increased concentration of oxygen is a very effective therapy.

This therapy provides noticeable results within 12-40 procedures. The received during a session oxygen is stored in the body and its favorable effect continue after completion of the course of treatment. The positive effect on treated patients is recorded after different numbers of procedures. It depends on the diagnosis, staging accompanying diseases - if any, and the general condition and age of the patient.

Hyperbaric therapy recommendations:

The hyperbaric therapy is effective at:

- carbon monoxide intoxications

- food and drug poisonings

- gynecological disorders

- decompression disease

- crush syndrome, acute injuries, ischemia

- air or gas embolism

- anaerobic or mixed bacterial infections

- diabetic

- diabetic foot

- non-healing wounds, trophic ulcers

- radiation symptoms

- stomach and duodenum ulcers

- gastritis and colitis

- cardiovascular diseases

- neurological disorders – Multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer disease, neuritis and neuralgia,

- speech impediments, autism, hyperactivity and other disorders.

The hyperbaric therapy is not suitable for:

The only contraindication is a presence of pneumothorax.

All other contraindications are relative and do not exclude completely and categorically implementation of oxygen therapy. In case any of them should be given particular attention in consultation with the doctor, and to prepare an individual plan to work with the patient.

Relative contraindications:

- upper respiratory infections

- pneumonia

- pulmonary tuberculosis

- fever

- oncology

- nose and ears bleeding

- pregnancy

How do the hyperbaric therapy works:

It is non-invasive and painless therapy that most patients find as  relaxing and enjoyable. Sessions are held in convenient and safe, designed especially for this purpose hyperbaric chamber of  highest class. It is operated by trained and certified team of specialists under certain conditions person may accompany the patient when entering decompression chamber.

Our Medical Support Center has hyperbaric chamber of the highest class for eight persons –it provides comfort and peaceful atmosphere for holding a session. For this help as comfortable seats, located her and the TV, which can be viewed films entirely consistent with the wishes of patients

WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW before entering the decompression chamber:

Each patient must be dressed with cotton and comfortable clothes. Before entering the decompression chamber everyone should leave outside all jewelry, mobile phones (and their derivatives - cameras, electronic games, mp3 players, etc.), watches, lighters, pressurized flasks, all alcohol-based substances and other hazardous substances.

In the decompression chamber one can drink water – the only requirement is the bottle to be opened before entering.
Throughout the session, patients can communicate each to other, read a book or watch movies of their choice on the special TV.

It needs to know that any time any patient can communicate with the therapist through a special purpose phone line located in a decompression chamber.

Before entering the hyperbaric chambers each patient goes through a doctor, and if necessary, a psychologist.

How does one session

Before starting the procedure every patient will receive all necessary instructions and answers to all its questions relating to the procedure.
Therapeutic session is carried out in three phases: the phase of compression, the healing phase and a decompression phase.

Phase of compression:
By closing the door of the decompression chamber as a result of pressurizing audible noise, the temperature slightly increases. In this phase, patients feel fading in the ears due to the difference of pressure. Every patient will be trained in advance on how to avoid discomfort at this stall.

Healing treatment phase:
Upon reaching the desired pressure, the patient places a mask through which breathe 100% pure oxygen during the session. The treatment begins when the pressure reaches a prescribed level. Patients can relax, read a book or watch TV.

Decompression phase:
After a certain time for oxygen treatment, the operator will notify you and will begin pressure drop - decompression. The duration of the decompression phase is usually equal to the duration of the compression phase.

How long is one procedure?

Depending on the diagnosis, the general condition, stage of disease, the degree of damage to the body, the number of affected areas and age of the patient is prepared regimen most effective for the patient concerned. According to the type of the pattern may vary: the duration of the procedure (average of between 1 h and 10 min and 2 hours), the pressure level (usually from 1.5 to 3 ATM), the number of procedures performed (usually between 12-40 sessions) also the number of visits per day (once or twice daily).
